Listers,
My nephew, David Pavlik, and I birded parts of Muskegon today. At the
Wastewater Facility we had a first winter Iceland Gull. The bird was
located in the flooded field area just north of the northwest pond (outside
the perimeter road). Among the zillion gulls near the dump area we could
find nothing of interest. There was also a Snow Goose in with the Canada
Geese on the western side of the western pond.
At Hoffmaster State Park in the SW corner of the county we had three
Long-tailed Ducks headed north (a few less than Jim saw in Allegan). I
suspect if we braved the elements longer there would have been more. There
was nothing of interest at Pere Marquette State Park including the channel.
Take care,
Tom Pavlik
