Listers,
While doing some county listing on the west side this weekend I happened on
a Sanderling at Muskegon Wastewater on Sunday at about 4:00. The bird was on
the edge of the water in the west lagoon, down the dike from the cells with
the aerators.
I had just seen the Purple Sandpiper at Holland State Park before heading to
MWS. Pretty good shorebird day! Also at Muskegon I saw and photographed a
gorgeous Snowy Owl across Swanson, just northeast of the lagoons. There was at
least one Rough-legged Hawk and another birder told me she saw the Golden Eagle
on the north side of the lagoons (it was dark already so I didn't follow up)
Just as it was getting too dark to see, one of the six birders there spotted a
Short-eared Owl northwest of Laketon & Swanson and a few minutes later I had
one fly over and bark (at me I think).
Other birds of note include a Red-necked Grebe on Sunday morning off the
lighthouse at South Haven and a pair of Common Redpolls at a feeder in southern
Barry County on Saturday morning.

hope you get to see them,
