Chip-

The MBRC has a downloadable excel version of the current Michigan checklist available at the top of the MI Checklist page, here:

http://www.michiganaudubon.org/research/recordscommittee/michigan_checklist.html

Click on this text for the file: "Downloadable version (.xls)"

That said, eBird is far and away the best way to keep track of all of your daily checklists from each outing, and it easily calculates all of your lists real-time for you (county, patch, yard, year, state, country, ABA, world, and all possible permutations [county year, state year], etc.). The problem with the eBird state checklist is that it would only include species for which at least 1 user has uploaded at least one record which was accepted by the MBRC. There are many species for which no eBird records exist (Cassin's Sparrow, Fork-tailed Flycatcher, etc.) that are on the MI Checklist. The MBRC checklist described above is not subject to this error.

Birders,

I am looking for suggestions on the best way to keep bird lists on-line or
on my computer. For example, for the Michigan state list (and county
lists), is there a digital list with all MI birds including a space to check the
ones seen. Or, is this something that I would have to create on
Excel? I thought this could be done on E-Bird, but I can’t find any
instructions on how to do it there. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chip Francke
