Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge's Web site has a new feature which
allows visitors to learn what birds are currently being seen at the refuge.
The new "Recent Bird Sightings" Google Gadget is found on the refuge's home
page and displays refuge bird sightings recorded in eBird. Anyone can
contribute in eBird and sightings from the refuge appear on the refuge's
web site within 15 minutes. Birders typically submit refuge observations
several times per week. Consequently, the list is kept very current.
Sightings remain on the refuge's web site for thirty days.

Some of the sightings listed on the Google Gadget currently include
cackling goose, American bittern, Bonaparte's gull, yellow-bellied
sapsucker, winter wren, eastern towhee, and fox sparrow.
