The bittersweetness of Spring

I just saw my first Grackle of the season at my feeder and got all excited  
... 
until I remembered what annoying "guests" they become after a while!
 
We've been hearing a few Red-Winged Blackbirds and maybe a Robin's song  ...
but it could just be my wishful thinking.
 
This week too the Canada Geese have been returning almost as great in  
numbers as they exited last November.  I couldn't resist standing on my  porch for a 
while last night listening to them on White Lake (loudly) announcing  their 
return.
 
It's been a long time coming!
