FW: bald eagle roost site, ottawa, 1/31

I am interested to know where the bald eagle roost is located in Holland. I
was in Holland, then Allegan, looking for snowy owls on Saturday and saw one
BE over head while near the state park.  I was excited about that lonely one
and now I hear you have sites on a roost? I'm jealous. 

 

Don't let the "listers" get to you. "Chatters" seem generally more
interested in behavior and "listers" are all about the hunt. My ex was one,
yet I was the one that found the Ibis!!! He's still weeping.

Well, I got no wwcr to discuss; sorry.  For the last three winters, Holland
has been host to several Bald Eagles.  The highest count I have heard was
somewhere around 35-38 in early '07; my best was 26 in a single late
afternoon kettle.  

 

The eagles have again turned to a nearby favorite roost site.  The highest
count I heard was 28 from this site.  I stopped there this past Wed. and had
11.  This evening at around 5:45 I had at least 23, a couple were moving
around and at least one came in.  A beautiful site against the setting sun.

 

If anyone is interested in the local, let me know.  If you get there at the
right time, they are quite active and "talkative".  

 

(If sharing this experience falls outside the realms of mich-chat, someone
please reprimand me.)
