Chatters,
Here are birds of interest today from the greater Douglas area. Locally, the
total rainfall in the last 36 hrs is approaching 4". I was hopeful of some
semblance of fall-out as a result of the overnight showers and it looks to
have taken place. Not many warbler species yet as today's rains might be
just ahead of the pack. More fall-out might be in store over the next few
days of predicted cloudbursts.
At home this morning the grounds and feeders were alive with:
118 Purple Finch
134 White-throated Sparrow
5 Swamp Sparrow
2 White-crowned Sparrow
6 Song Sparrow
5 Eastern Towhee
14 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
4 Golden-crowned Kinglet
3 Pine Siskin
24 Am. Goldfinch
Also in the yard were singletons of:
Blue-headed Vireo (FOY)
Red-eyed Vireo (FOY)
Brown Creeper
Brown Thrasher
House Wren (FOY)
Cooper's Hawk
Yellow-r. Warbler
Wade's Bayou on the Kalamazoo River in Douglas:
76 Rudy Duck
38 Lesser Scaup
3 Ring-necked Duck
1 Horned Grebe
1 Purple Martin (FOY)
Tree, N. Rough-winged, Bank, Cliff and Barn Swallow
Lakeshore Dr./Center St.intersection this afternoon as thermals created
lift:
Broad-winged Hawk - dark morph (FOY)
Osprey (FOY)
N. Harrier
Sharp-sh. Hawk
Cooper's Hawk
Turkey Vulture
Hope everyone is enjoying this spring as much as I am!
Good birding,
Rick Brigham
