Where have all the crossbills gone?

Hello everyone,

I am looking forward to the influx of migrants, including warblers as much as anyone. I am also still keeping track of White-winged Crossbill reports on the web page created back in March.

http://www.amazilia.net/WWCR_spring2009.htm

Since then, reports have predictably decreased with the most recent report being from Livingston County on April 19, and only a couple reports from the Upper Peninsula. Perhaps they'vre now left the state completely?

If you happen to see White-winged Crossbills when you're out birding over the next month or so, please report them to me or to Chip Francke at:

Thanks!

Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food.
It doesn't. It just eats another hummingbird.
