Hello everyone,

I have just created a website with a table of records and a map showing reports of breeding activity of Pine Siskins in southern Michigan. So far, there are 15 reports listed from 10 counties, of which 4 counties have "confirmed" breeding records, though most of those so far are based on birds carrying nesting material. To view the site, go to:

http://www.amazilia.net/Siskins.htm

I am very interested in any Pine Siskin sightings, including birds singing (not calling), chasing, gathering nest materials, etc. Obviously, after the young fledge later on it will be easier to confirm nesting, but I hope we all pay attention to this early evidence as well since not all nesting attempts will succeed in raising young.

You can send reports to me at: amazilia1 at comcast.net

Thank you!

Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food.
It doesn't. It just eats another hummingbird.
