Folks -

Took a long lunch today at Red Cedar roadside park (Meridian / GrandRiver
Ave) and on the paths along the Red Cedar across from the Harris NC on VanAtta.

Was looking for unusual dragonflies and took some time to pish inseveral
chickadee / migrant flocks.  They were all working fairly highup, but came in
fairly quick to Screech Owl calls and various scold /alarm notes.

Had 4 species of woodpecker, mostly young birds, check out the hoo-ha.  This
included one Pileated (!) which is unusual.

Had pewee, Red-eyed and Philadelphia vireos, and these
warblers:Orange-crowned - 1, Blackpoll - 2, Bay-breasted - 1, Parula - 1, Canada- 1, Ovenbird - 1,
Magnolia - 3, American Redstart - 2, Black-and-white- 1.

Also found a Mustard White and a Common Checkered Skipper and a fabulous
Cecropia Moth caterpillar - gorgeous and bizarre.

Few mosquitoes; vibrant amounts of poison ivy and nettle (off the paths).

A good lunch!    - Doug
