Be on lookout for hurricane waifs

Birders-

A Magnificent Frigatebird was reported today about 150 miles south of Berrien Co., in Vermillion County, Illinois, presumably a bird dumped there by the remnants of Gustav which are already hitting the lower peninsula as we speak. Gustav's core will apparently pass directly over the southern lower peninsula in the next day or two and it may be worthwhile to check Lake MI or other water bodies for potential hurricane waifs such as frigatebirds and other pelagic species.

Obviously, if you're lucky enough to bump into any such bird, please report it immediately!

Good Birding,
Caleb Putnam
