Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge will host a guided birding auto tour on
Friday, October 10, 2008, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This will be the last
guided bird auto tour this fall. Large numbers of waterfowl and other
birds are now migrating through the refuge. The fall colors are quite
spectacular, too! Refuge volunteer and Saginaw Valley Audubon Society
member Steve Gasser will lead the tour.

Participants are asked to meet at the refuge headquarters, 6975 Mower Road
(corner of Curtis and Mower Roads, south of Saginaw, off of highway M-13)
at 5:30 p.m. to form a small caravan to drive into the refuge. The tour
will last about two to three hours. Be sure to bring your binoculars,
spotting scopes, cameras, two-way radios, and mosquito repellent. In the
event of severe weather or soft road conditions, the guided tour will be
cancelled.
