The Michigan Bird Conservation Intiative (MiBCI) has already
started planning its 2009 Ornithological Congress, and the
planning committee is looking for input. Just go to
http://www.MiBCI.org and look for the "We want to hear from you!"
link for a short survey that will be used by the committee
as they plan.
The Ornithological Congress is an annual meeting for the state's
conservation community to share information on current research
and conservation of Michigan's birds. Prior congresses have
included sessions on topics ranging from wildlife disease and
alternative energy development to early successional forest
management as well as short presentations on ongoing research
and habitat conservation projects.
Attendees at each congress are asked for their suggestions for
future congresses, and this is your opportunity to have a say
as well. The success of the congress depends on it being useful
to as many of the state's conservation partners as possible, so
please take just a few minutes to let MiBCI know how it can
better provide a forum to share information, meet potential
collaborators, and generate excitement and action for bird
conservation. Feel free to forward this request to anyone you
know interested in Michigan's birds and their conservation.
