Folks -

Probably just about every birder in Michigan was out yesterday - beautiful
day.

I chose to spend the morning in the NW portion of Clinton Co., mostlyin the
SGA, mainly the area between Tallman and Hubbardstonbridges.  Although the
place was not hopping with Neotropmigrants, I still managed 78 species with 11
warblers, 3 vireos, etc.  Had first of year (FOY) for a number of species.

Saw a good range of wildflowers, including Jack-in-the-Pulpit(preparing for
today's sermon) and 4-5 species of butterflies withdusky-wings out in several
places.

Bird highlights included:

Pretty, small, grassy marsh at the corner of Wright/Herbison. Calling Sora
(3-4),Virginia (1), snipe (1), Sedge Wren (5-6), and SwampSparrow (many).  Looks
like a healthy, productive little marsh - Ijust sat and enjoyed the sights
and sounds for a while.

Orchard Oriole at the corner of Wright/Island.

A trio of good warblers:  nesting Northern Waterthrush at thenorth end of
Hinman (and a horde of mosquitoes), one Cerulean alongFrench west of Jones (it
looks like they could be at several othersites along the route), and 1
Prothonotary at the usual site acrossfrom the campground at French/Hubbardston.

A good Mother's Day to all.    - Doug
