MAS Lapeer Bird Trip - Saturday, June 21

Led by Colleen Traylor and her daughter, Lisa, the  Macomb Audubon Society 
went to the Water Tower Park and Oakdale School in  Lapeer, MI today.  Worthy 
sightings included:
 
Great Blue Heron
Kingfisher
Kingbird
Green Heron (at least 5 in the pond ~ one giving us a  long, close look)
Northern Flicker
Wood Ducks (including fledglings)
Warbling Vireo (singing his heart out and also giving  us a good, long look)
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Mallards
 
After the bird trip, we took a drive to Lake Nepessing  Road where we 
observed 2 adult osprey on a tower in the industrial  complex.  The female osprey was 
busy at the nest while the male was sitting  on the edge of the nest area 
proudly watching.  Maybe chicks  hatching?
