Folks -

Clinton County, Rose Lake WRA 1030-1315

Finally located the way into Burke Lake bog; knew I hadn't misplaced it by
much. Was in the vicinity until 1200. Bergamot (Monarda) was in full bloom and
the insect bios was intense, roiling, and varied! Moths, bees, hornets,
bugs, flys, and beetles, not too mention Leps and Odes. There was a constant
drone of insect sound. Nice sun, good smells - a fine day to be out.

Took the path again from Stoll Road to the cinquefoil plains east of Rose
Lake proper. Mainly a quick run to see if I could find any coppers. The Blazing
Star (Liatris) was in nice bloom, as was the cinquefoil.

Winged Things:

Steadily calling birds: E Wood-Pewee, Red-eyed Vireo, Wood Thrush, Eastern
Towhee.
Spoke Screech Owl at a flock and got Willow Flycatcher to fitz-bew.

Hummingbird Clearwing Moth - 3 or 4 (What a sight! They're beautiful.),
Snowberry Clearwing Moth - 1, more than these and at least one other smaller
species, all nectaring on Monarda

Silver-spotted Skipper - 2 (nectaring on Monarda), Wild Indigo Duskywing - 1
