long-tailed ducks, white-winged scoter - ottawa - 2/23

for those needing these for ottawa county this year: there were two female long-tailed ducks and 1 female white-winged scoter right next to the north pier at holland state park this evening between 5:00 and 6:00.  observation was from about 15' - 60' as they swam about.  they were not frightened by those walking close by.  the open water in the channel is limited to along and between the piers and at the start of the channel (up river) to about half way to "big red" - this is providing easy viewing of the limited ducks and gulls.  open water on the big lake is out 1/2 mile or more.
