Lori Zawerucha, my fellow DHS employee, came in to work today (Feb 13th) to say that she had her first Snowy Owl of the year. It was an immature bird perched on a utility pole on Akron Rd, just east of Bradleyville Rd.

Also, both Jerry Ziarno and Wayne Shawl reported Bohemian Waxwings and Pine Grosbeaks are still pounding the crabapples in front of the AuGres Methodist Church just east of AuGres. They both stopped by there yesterday, Feb 12th. Wayne said there are still lots of crabapples left so they should stick around for a while. Jerry reported that a Sharp-shinned Hawk buzzed the group while he was observing them.

Good winter birding!
