Seems the email address I posted on my replys/comments to Fred and all regards the Martin status is outdated. Sorry.
Here is the latest link to this data.  On the left click on "species evidence by route" and/or "species evidence by region" in which one can see from 1966 to 2007 Purple Martin observations on MI BBS routes peaked in the late 70s and has gone downhill since!
