Folks -
I am compiling the 2008 Fall Survey summary for MAS (Michigan Birds and
Natural History) and will provide information for the NAS summary (North American
Birds). The season includes August through November of this year.
Some observers have already sent hard copy forms or their summaries to me at
the address below. Others have sent me material/files at this e-mail address.
PLEASE NOTE:
I have decided I will not be taking any information directly from any of the
posting sites around Michigan. If you want your records to be included in
these summaries, MAS in particular, you should make sure your local compiler has
the information or you can decide to send it to me.
Adam Byrne has been tracking reports of Michigan Review Species (rare birds)
and has been contacting observers to ask for the relevant details. Needless
to say, Review Species without supporting details will be left off the MAS and
NAS summaries.
There are other, non-review, species for which some level of detail for the
sighting and ID would be appropriate. These were noted on the forms sent out.
If you have questions about this process, please feel free to contact me. In
turn, I might contact you for further information.
Also, I am considering posting a rough draft pdf of my compilation somewhere
before the final is due to MAS next spring (or earlier). I believe this
Summary is a collaborative effort and would appreciate the review beforehand to
catch egregious missspellings and other errors.
Thanks. - Doug
