Definitely a week or so early for here also Pat! Not seeing any or the numbers of the others you mention here. Usually don't until the first week of May. Have had Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher (one) and a few White-Throated Sparrows for several days. Also Field Sparrows! Only a few Chipping Sparrows. Neighbor friend a few miles away finally has his Purple Martins arriving! (late this year) Our oldest daughter & son-in-law out by Capac have Eastern Screech Owl with 2 eggs in a box plus Wood Ducks in their boxes with many eggs! Finally saw our first Towhee of the season up by Adair! Still a Wilsons Snipe or 2 winnowing overhead. Several Pheasants and Turkeys in the neighborhood. 2 or 3 Flickers around sounding off. (no further sign of the Pileated tho! ) Savannah Sparrows been around in the hayfields for some time.(early) A few Tree Swallows finally showed up checking our nest boxes! (late this year!) One Hairy Woodpecker has returned after an extended AWOL! Many Robins & Cardinals this season! Younger daughter Jennifer has had Wood Ducks at their pond not far from us. Anyone want to borrow a few Red-Wing Blackbirds, Grackles, Cowbirds, or Starlings? No shortage of those around here! However, House Finches, Goldficnhes, and even House Sparrow numbers are low! Seems some species are early this year, others are late. Usually they are late around here compared to others!

Seeing many Cabbage Whites for some time now otherwise only 1 Red Admiral Butterfly!

I need to get down to Anchor Bay, The Flats and the St. Clair River to see what is up! Having to borrow a vehicle when we can since the terrible accident we had totaled ours :(

Still bummed out we missed the Harlequins at Pine Grove Park in Port Huron Wednesday! A cold and windy front came in just as we got there, churned up the river, and no further sign of them.

WOW!-- Just as I'm typing this (7:30-8PM) Our First Hummingbird of the season pulled up in our yard at one of our flowering shrubs! He is checking the feeders too! Couldn't get a pic! Tomorrow maybe! Now this IS about a week early for us! -----OK, now for Orioles!

Spring has officially hit our property in Melvin with the first of the Warblers arriving this weekend.

Two males and one female Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a Blue-winged Warbler on Sunday and a Yellow Warbler and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher on Sunday. Many (50-60 at least) White-throated Sparrows. Red-breasted Nuthatches still around.
Downy Woodpeckers are enjoying the sugar water in the Oriole/Hummingbird Feeder!
Lots and lots of Chipping Sparrows.

Both Dick and I think that the RBGrosbeaks are about a week early, but unfortunately we have not kept arrival dates prior to this.
