I just posted a mediocre photo on the umich Grove Street album of one of several Foresters Terns, first of the season seen by us at Deckers Landing Public Access on the North Channel of the St. Clair River, St. Clair Flats.
Our first outing in 2 weeks (borrowed vehicle) after our horrible auto accident. The weather indeed was terrible cold, sleet, drizzle, fog and rain.
In the short while around the marsh, and at Anchor Bay also seen were American Coots, Pied-billed Grebes, Mute Swans, Greater Scaups (hundreds), Mallards, Common Mergansers, Canada Geese, Tree Swallows (dozens). Many ducks are still way out on Anchor Bay too far for my scope to pull in. Many Ring-billed and Herring Gulls plus the expected Red-wing Blackbirds, Grackles, Cowbirds, Starlings by the hundreds plus dozens of Rusty Blackbirds!
Back at home in the past 2 days we've had our first of the season Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers, & Chipping Sparrows at our feeders, 4 to 6 Savannah Sparrows and Wild Turkeys across the road in the big hayfield. Wilsons Snipes winnowing overhead daily. An Eastern Phoebe made a short appearance in our yard.
