Birders,
I was finally able to get out to look for some migrants today at Tawas Point.
Over 85% of the warblers I saw were made up of Yellow-rumps and Palms, and I saw a total of 12 species. Surprisingly, I did not see any Bay-breasteds or Blackpolls. I saw 8 species of Sparrows.
Definitely the best find this morning was a calling male Evening Grosbeak we watched circling over the campground when we first arrived at 7:30. This was the first time in years I've seen one away from the UP and the first I've ever seen here. I also thought it was interesting that I saw no shorebirds of any kind today.
Good birding,
Jeff Buecking
