Lake Mich watch Manistee

Had the good fortune to be able to spend 2 hours on the pier this morning as the front pushed over the state. Stiff WNW winds promised to push Sabine's Gulls and Greater Skuas towards the shore but alas it was suprisingly quiet. Seemed more like an August day with RB and H gulls circling, a few cormorants and Turkey Vultures and Sanderlings and a Semipalmated Sandpiper on the beach.
One good bird was a Whimbrel, scarce in these parts, that lingered all the time on the First St. Beach and a Ruddy Turnstone at 5th Ave. Beach.
The only birds moving on the lake were a small flock of Blue-winged Teal and some Mallards.
