An impressive nine (9) American White Pelicans were observed this morning, Sept 3rd, from the end of Finn Rd boat launch in Hampton Twp, Bay County. They were in the general company of Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and other waterbirds. I observed them from the end of the channel, looking far to the east along the shoreline. Other birds of note included a handsome looking immature Broad-winged Hawk that landed in an Oak tree within fifty feet of me. I also had numerous Red-breasted Nuthatch, four Purple Finch, and my first White-throated Sparrows (3) of the fall season. A Wilson's Warbler was the top of list of ten warbler species for the morning at the end of Knight Rd.
Good birding,
Joe Soehnel
