While out on a predawn prayer hike this morning along the Ionia Rivertrail, I was startled to hear a Barred Owl Scream then give the standard "Who-Cooks-for-you!!" That is a new "yard" bird for me.
As the day was beginning to dawn, I came to wooded field where I found the breeding Chats this Spring only to hear at least two woodcocks peenting then singing their flight song. That was a surprise for me in autumn. Is that unusual, or standard autumn behavoir?
And last, shortly before the sun popped up above the horizon, I heard, then saw a few times (from 10 to 15 feet away), and Sedge Wren. There were at least two in that field. Also got a very blurry picture of one of them. That also is a new yard bird, bringing me up to 136 since August last year.
Good birding,
