Subject: [birders] OT: Washtenaw Audubon Peru Birding
Trip - Seats Available

Birders,

Washtenaw Audubon is pleased to announce that up to
three new spots have opened up for its upcoming Peru
Birding Trip. This trip was previously reserved for
Washtenaw Audubon members only but is now open to all.
This is a "No frills food and lodging, and BIG FRILLS
birding trip." Here are the details:

Bird Peru for 10 days starting in late in July through
early August with international birder and Livonia
school teacher, Bryn Martin. Bird the multitude of
habitats from ocean to coastline to desert to alpine
(the Andes) to rain forest (Amazonian basin.) We will
see penguins, flamingos, parrots (including macaws),
albatrosses, boobies, tons of colorful hummingbird and
tanager species, shorebirds, etc. We will also see
Oilbirds (nocturnal, cave-dwelling, echo-locating
oddities), Hoatzins (so prehistoric their young still
have claws on their wings,) the large flightless Junin
Grebe, the near-mythic Diademed Sandpiper-Plover, the
Inca Tern, diving petrels, seed-snipes, Peruvian
Thick-knees
the list goes on and on. In fact, we
have a chance to see just under 400 species on this 10
day trip that includes a pelagic out of Lima. We will
have the opportunity to see extremely rare and local
birds (some with less than 100 remaining) as well as
many endemics (only found locally in their area of
Peru.) This trip is for the world lister, the
neotropic novice and for those who just want to
explore a new country and see some spectacular birds.

If you would like more information, please contact
Bryn Martin (brynmartin at sbcglobal.net) and/or Cathy
Carroll (songsparrow at wowway.com ) for additional
details. These remaining spots are available on a
first come, first serve basis. A $500 deposit is
required to reserve your post.

Thanks!
Ray
