Birded Allegan State game area on Sat. 6-23 with a total of 60 species seen and heard. Highlights included a cerulean warbler pair at Ely campground, just past the registration station. The campground is on the south side of 116th Ave. between 48th Ave. and 51st St. in Allegan county. One veery seen and at least 2 others heard. Am. redstarts also seen in the campground.
The farm unit produced numerous bobolinks, a yellow-billed cuckoo, and sedge wrens were heard. Unfortunately, no Henslows. The forested areas north and south of the State Game Headquarters held great-crested flycatchers, red-headed woodpeckers, and chestnut-sided warblers.
Bird on!
