Steve Santner and I did some county birding today (Sunday) in Midland,
Gladwin, and Clare counties. In Midland County, we found a pair of Golden-winged
Warblers on the east side of Macgruder Road just south of Curtis road. In
Gladwin County, we had two Upland Sandpipers walking in the expansive front yard
of a home at 3909 Beaverton Road, west of Roehrs Road. In Clare County, we
had an Osprey flying near the intersection of Washington and Brand Roads. Also
in Clare County, we had one Red-headed Woodpecker along Ball Avenue just south
of Lavely Road (near the northeastern edge of Long Lake), and a second one
along Long Lake Road east of Long Lake.

And in the just when you think you've seen everything category, the most
interesting sight of the day was of a very handsome Peacock fraternizing with
some lowly Wild Turkeys near the side of the road.
