I took a little Ionia county eagle tour Sunday morning and had 22 eagles
between Ionia and Lyons. Most were along Kimball Rd. east of Lyons in
the field feeding on the carcass pile behind the farm. The farm is on
the south side of the road .5 miles west of Divine Hwy. I had 20 at this
spot at 10:30 in the morning. This has been a regular eagle congregation
spot for the last several years in Ionia county. The guy that lives in
the house works for the road commission and decided to dump the dead deer
and critters they clean up from the highways in the fields behind his
house. I have had up to 35 Bald Eagles here in past years. I also had
an adult Bald Eagle about 4 miles west of Lyons and another one closer to
the town of Muir along M21. While watching the eagles along Kimball I
also had a pair of Lapland Longspurs fly by and a Rough-legged Hawk
perched on the opposite side of the road from the eagles.
