See the announcement below for field surveyors for the Breeding
Bird Atlas for the upcoming summer. The DNR is providing a large
amount of the funding for the Atlas, and this is the last year of
field data collection. There is a massive amount of surveying that
still needs to be done to get statewide coverage. If you know of
anyone who may have the skills and the interest in one of these
positions, please forward this announcement to them and encourage
them to apply ASAP.

Thanks
Karen Cleveland

BREEDING BIRD ATLAS TECHNICIAN: 10-15 positions from 15 May
through 7 Aug 2007. Pay $9.50-10.25/hr (depending on experience)
and 35¢/mi. The last year for data collection for the Michigan Breeding
Bird Atlas is 2007. Duties of the MBBA technician include conducting
area surveys of assigned quarter-townships, recording behavioral cues
that reveal breeding status, conducting point counts, and recording
habitat.  Ability to identify Michigan birds by sight and sound required;
point count experience preferred. MBBA technicians will typically be
assigned remote areas with insufficient volunteer coverage and will
need their own vehicle; applicants must be able to work independently
and travel extensively. Send letter of interest, resume, and three
references to RAY ADAMS, Kalamazoo Nature Center, 7000 North
Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49009-6309 (radams at naturecenter.org).
