First, many thanks to Russ Emmons, who wrote about what a wonderful book this is. It made me sad, though--I hardly cracked the cover, as I always relied on our 19-volumes of Bent. Also, because it seemed fragile, forgot about it. Now as an Older Person I don't like reading small print, and am missing the opportunity to enjoy it. Reading a couple sections and also going through the illustrations make me realize how much I missed.

NOW: I have to correct myself on its condition. In reading it now, I cracked the back cover and it tore about 3/4 down the spine. As an "antique" whose value depends on perfect condition, I presume its value has decreased. As a wonderful book to read, however, there is nothing wrong with it. Frankly, you might want to preserve it by getting a new cover or have it repaired in order to save it.
Also, I said it was a first edition. I assumed that; like many or most first editions, it doesn't say that.

I've received a couple of offers. Based on the above information, I'll withdraw them and let you start over. I really hope someone is eager to get it , both for its historical value (that is, information about birds as of the early 1900's) and information about our birds mostly now and forever. As I never realized, in Russ' words, it is an outstanding, comprehensive publication, and I would be tempted to keep it if I hadn't already said I'd give the proceeds to Michigan Audubon. Best of birding! Joan
