I would highly recommend this book to anyone who may at all be interested! We've had a copy of this book for years. It was handed down from my wifes family many years ago. We treasure our copy and would not sell or trade it for anything! We use ours frequently. We find much of the data is more complete and pertinent, particularly regards habitat, and diet, then many of the modern handbooks. Outstanding comprehensive publication!

Hello all: I have a 1912 first edition (800 plus pgs including index) of
Michigan Bird Life by Walter Bradford Barrows
"professor of Zoology and Physiology and Curator of the General Museum")
Published by the Michigan Agricultural College.
For a 95 year old book, it's in decent condition- The cover shows wear at the edges, particularly along the spine , and the title on it is faded (but readable up close). The top of two pages in the preface have been torn off, but are still there. Otherwise, the book is intact, though fragile, and none of the pages are falling out. The book is mostly text, but with some illustrations, some that are quite intriguing, such as a photo of a Chimney Swift clinging to the inside of a chimney, and an illustration of a Rough Grouse's foot in winter and summer. I hope you will pass this on to anyone who doesn't subscribe to Mich-chat who you think might be interested. I'll sell it by the first week of March to the highest bidder, and donate the proceeds to Michigan Audubon. Joan Wolfe
