Kent Co. redpolls (inc. Hoary) and discussion

On Thursday Dec 6 Sean Fitzgerald reported a Hoary Redpoll in Grand Rapids (for details see http://www.glsga.org/graud/bird_reports.htm).  Several birders followed up the sighting and were unable to find the bird, but I did turn up an interesting individual (and perhaps a second) which seemed Hoary-like in some respects, Common-like in others.  I have summarized this bird's ID on my blog (http://www.aviantendencies.blogspot.com/) including photos and links to other recent redpoll ID resources you may find helpful as you sort through the numerous redpolls present in s. MI right now.
