Chatters -

Had a nice half day out in Bay and Saginaw counties with friends this
morning.

We checked Nayanquing, Brissette Beach, Bay City SRA, sewage ponds at
Hemlock, and the Gratiot-Saginaw SGA.

Had a single male Yellow-headed Blackbird at Nayanquing and two
BrownThrashers at Bay City SRA.  Even though it was a pleasant day, there was a surprising
lack of migrants, even ducks.  No sparrowflocks, no groups of Yellow-rumped
Warbler.  Maybe2-3 small groups of migrating flickers and Tree Swallows.
Hadhoped to find sapsucker or Fox Sparrow in either of the counties, butdipped (had
none) big time.

Heard Sora and saw courting Caspian Terns at Nayanquing and
distantCommon/Forsters's tern, but no Black Terns, bitterns, Marsh Wren, oreven Common
Yellowthroat seen or heard.  Only snipe and GreaterYellowlegs.

Did pick up Lesser Scaup and Bonaparte's Gull as county birds for Saginaw
County.

Heard all of the expected amphibians, including tree frog. Probablythree
species of butterfly and Karl had a Ribbon (Garter) Snake.

Hope you had a good day, too.   - Doug
