Egrets at Maple River flooding

This is a little late. Last Friday while zooming down US 27 in Gratiot County I noticed that the west side impoundment was a huge mudflat (a little late for shorebirds but worth checking out).

After seeing my son run a cross country race at MSU I had to zoom back and noticed that the east side of Maple River flooding looked like a slice of a Florida wetland. There were a minimum of 40-50 Great Egrets foraging in the open area visible to me at 70mph. I didn't notice any small egrets but sure wish I could have had the time to look.
