Storm Birds Oct. 2,3 & 4

<p>The heavy rains and thunderstorms stranded numerous birds this week here in Allegan Co. For a change, birds of consequence have been inland as opposed to along the lakeshore. And most are along 116th Ave. between 58th and 65th Sts. </p><p></p><p>A <b>Snow Goose</b> and several <b>Cackling Geese</b> have been present amongst several hundred Canada's feeding in the cut corn fields on the south side of  116th near 58th St. Freshly plowed fields between 62nd and 64th Sts. have a nice assortment of shorebirds with 7 <b>American Golden Plover</b> on the south side and 2 Dunlin, 3 Pectoral Sand, 2 Least Sand, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs and 4 Wilson<b> </b>Snipe in the numerous puddles on the north side. There are easily 300 Killdeer along this stretch, as well.</p><p></p><p>At the Highbanks Unit of the Allegan State Game Area on the 2nd were several Rusty Blackbird and over 500 Chimney Swift. Waterfowl numbers are increasing here as the managed water levels rise. 200+ Ring-necked Duck,!
  100+ Am. Coot, 100+ Wood Duck and smatering of other dabblers are visible from the M-89 end of the flooding.</p><p></p><p>Here in Douglas, there are over 500 White-throated Sparrows on my property and next door at the family homestead. Imbedded in this flock are many White-crowned, Junco and some Fox Sparrow.  Hopefully, a Harris's will show, as well! </p><p></p><p>RB</p>
