Late post! Just received a report from my son-in-law Mark, (Very experienced outdoorsman/birder) of a single Common Moorhen along the Dyke Rd. M29 that cuts thru the St. Johns Marsh. The bird was about 1/2 way between Anchor Bay Drive and the Colony Tower. Clay Twp.
I'm not sure if this sighting is appropiate for Mich-listers as Common Moorhens are historical residents and breeders of this marsh, I see them there now & then but nowhere as much as in days gone by! (If appropiate, listers will pick up from this posting accordingly I assume.)

Otherwise, with all the many various impressive migrant sightings statewide and several noting many migrants arrived early, I note and wonder why in this area many migrants are just beginning to show up. This has become a regular occurence here in recent years whereas most migrants are showing up in the Central LP, NLP and even the UP Weeks before here in many cases! Very few Warblers around here this season-- so far. Some other species conspicuous by their absence!
