Birders-

I found a Connecticut Warbler this morning, 26 May 2006, at Ken-O-Sha School
along the Plaster Creek trail in Grand Rapids, Kent Co. The bird was
singing the chippy-chuppy-chippy-chuppy song between 0900 and 1100 hrs when
I left, and was often visible walking underneath some thickets and perching
quietly about 20 ft high in red maples.

>From the east, take I-96 to 28th Street and go west to Kalamazoo Ave,
turning south (left) on Kalamazoo. After 1/2 mile turn west (right) onto
Ken-O-Sha Drive. If coming from the west, take US-131 to 28th St and head
east to Kalamazoo Ave. Go south on Kalamazoo Ave, in 1/2 mile turn right
onto Ken-O-Sha Dr.

Once at the west end of Ken-O-Sha, park at the school and walk west to the
baseball diamond. The bird is in the habitat immediately west of right
field, and was often within 10-20 feet of the mowed grass. It also sang a
couple of times from nearer to home plate. Note also that there are 3
Screech-Owls perched in a conifer about 30 feet into the woods- if you enter
the woods from a small trail in right field.

Good luck!
