David Peters compiled a list of 47 species from Shiawassee National
Wildlife Refuge's Woodland Trail on May 21.  Some of the noteworthy species
include:

American woodcock: 1
ruby-throated hummingbird: 2
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER: 1
least flycatcher: 6
great crested flycatcher: 5
veery: 1
wood thrush: 5
golden-winged warbler: 1
Tennessee warbler: 4
yellow warbler: 13
chestnut-sided warbler: 3
magnolia warbler: 2
black-throated blue warbler: 4
bay-breasted warbler: 1
American redstart: 22
ovenbird:   6
northern waterthrush: 1
common yellowthroat: 9
Wilson’s warbler: 1
Canada warbler: 1
scarlet tanager: 1
field sparrow: 1
white-throated sparrow: 14
white-crowned sparrow: 3
orchard oriole: 1 female

Especially exciting was observation of a new butterfly species for the
refuge - silver-spotted fritillary!!
