Birders,
An adult Northern Shrike was observed perching in trees edging the north
side of the Muskegon Channel (in the Channel Campground of Muskegon State
Park) about 4 pm Mar 19. The bird moved several times as a group of people
approached and eventually flew across to the south side of the Channel where
I lost track of it.
I have seen an adult Northern Shrike several times during the winter
1.25miles north of this location perched on wires overlooking the
blueberry
field at Memorial Dr. and Peterson Rd just outside the Snug Harbor area of
the park. My first N Shrike of the winter 2005-06 season was an adult seen
on Nov 14, 2005 in the dunes an eighth of a mile from today's Channel area
sighting.
