Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge short-eared owl trip results 12/04

The Chippewa Valley Audubon Society had a field trip to Shiawassee National
Wildlife Refuge to see short-eared owls on December 4.  Despite strong
winds and snow, several noteworthy species were observed, including:

short-eared owl - 10
long-eared owl - 1
northern harrier - 15
tundra swan - 8
trumpeter swan - 2
sandhill crane - 7
