I just spoke with Jim Nelson of Livonia, and he asked me to spread the word
that the towhee has not been seen since Jan. 21.

He also wanted to thank the 269(!) birders who visited for their
friendliness, appreication of his hospitality, and the respect of his
"ground rules."

He truly enjoyed his notoriety (he had no idea what a magent a rare bird
could be). He told me specifically that he wishes all of you many rare birds
in the year ahead.

I think we are all lucky that this bird showed up in the Nelsons' yard.
