AR-News: (US AL) Arrests planned for cruelty

Three months after a  Dawson couple was charged with animal cruelty, an 
arrest warrant has been issued  for a Kilpatrick couple on the same charges.

According to SPCA executive  director Freda Waters, the warrants were issued 
Thursday after she completed a  “check-up” visit on the couples’ four horses. 

“As soon as I received  this call, and went to check on these horses, I knew 
something had to be done,”  Waters said. “So, I took photographs of the 
horses and went to the district  attorney’s office the very next morning to issue a 
warrant for their  arrest.”

Waters also obtained a seizure warrant Thursday for the  horses.

By Monday morning, DeKalb County authorities had not been able to  serve the 
warrant, according to sheriff’s reports.. 

Waters said she had  started helping the couple in December after a neighbor 
had reported the horses  seemed underweight and in need of proper care and 
nutrition.
