PLEASE CROSSPOST

www.spcasussex.petfinder.com

As I finished taking my pictures to update the website for the SPCA in
Georgetown, I saw the staff discussing which dogs they had to put down to make room
for the long weekend. I was upset to find out that 5 of them where adoptable
dogs that I had just photographed. Their only crime is that they have been
there at least a couple of weeks. They are just too crowded there despite the
fact that some dogs were moved to rescue this week and the Delaware Humane
Assn. pulled 4 yesterday.

I called Diane Kurst of the Animal Rescue League and we decided to ask for a
stay of execution until tomorrow. We have until 8:30 tomorrow morning to pull
whatever dogs we can find a place for. If anyone has room for one of these
doomed dogs, we will try to stash it somewhere until transport can be arranged.

While I was there, a man who was going into the service tearfully brought in
a beautiful 6 month old black male cocker spaniel mix, named Shiloh. I took
him home so that a dog wouldn't be euthanized to make room for him. If anyone
is interested in this sweet, housetrained boy, please let me know and I will
send pictures. He has had two rounds of puppy shots. He should be easily
adopted. I would like to send him to a rescue that will take one of these
endangered dogs:
#45, a very sweet Beagle mix, found as a stray and thought to be about 6
months old. He is a friendly boy of about 30 pounds. He loves sweet talk.
#104 Duchess, a pointer mix who is 8 months old. She was found as a stray.
She is a pretty and very friendly girl whose tail does a helicopter twirl when
she has a visitor.
#107, Scooby, a predominantly brown Lab X who was found as a stray. He is
microchipped but his owner could not be located. He is thought to be about 8
months old. He is an affectionate boy who wants to be near people.
#108, a small yellow Lab mix male who was found as a stray. He is only about
30 pounds so he is obviously mixed with a small breed. He looks to be
between 8 and 12 months of age. Nice, calm friendly boy.
#59, a handsome neutered yellow lab who is thought to be about 2. The animal
control officer noted on the intake form that he "has a sweet disposition."
Check the website for pictures of these dogs.

ALSO, there is a 2 y/o gorgeous, blue eyed Husky in 105 who has to go. He
was adopted and returned because he was aggressive to cats. Often returned dogs
are PTS. His card had been pulled so he has very little time left. He is
great with people but not with smaller animals. Not sure about other dogs. He
seems to ignore the dogs in the pens adjacent to him.

PLEASE if anyone can help, call Diane at 302 684-1049 or myself at 302
856-6947 or rain.tyler at mchsi.com
