AR-News: (US MA) Petulant pit bull put down

A pit bull puppy  attacked a 6-year-old boy in his family's third-floor 
apartment last night after  escaping its outdoor pen and later was shot dead after 
it broke free a second  time and charged at a cop. 
``The dog  came out from underneath the fence and out at the officer,'' said 
Capt. Jim  Hasson. ``It was pretty dangerous. Alternatives were limited.'' 
Police said  the unidentified boy was being treated at Boston Medical Center 
last night for a  ``superficial wound'' to the buttocks and was expected to 
recover. 
The dog,  6-month-old Joe, was killed less than a week after the Boston City 
Council  ordered all pit bull owners to muzzle their pets in public following 
multiple  attacks on animals and people that left two pit bulls dead.
