CARTERET: Josi Tozzi has always had a love for animals.CA
For the last 14 years, she has been involved in various animal-rescue
programs. During the last three years, she has been acting as a local resource for
people who have animal-related problems in the borough.
Now Tozzi, aiming o make those rescue efforts more widespread by getting the
community involved, is spearheading the Carteret Animal Project.
She envisions the project as a way to "educate the community about spaying
and neutering their pets," as well as national initiatives such as "trap,
neuter and release" for feral cats.
According to Tozzi, Carteret has a large stray-animal problem, mostly with
cats.
"It's been a problem for years and it is just getting worse and worse," said
Tozzi. "No one is really taking control of the problem."
One problem, she said, is people who abandon their pets -- which she said is
a problem throughout the United States, not just in Carteret.

I No Fishing Because fish have a brain, a central nervous system, and pain
receptors, they can feel pain just like cats, dogs, and humans. Just because
they can't scream doesn't mean that they are not in pain. Also, other animals,
like birds, often strangle or choke to death on lost hooks and lines. - PETA
