In what is reported to be a unanimous decision, the Wilson County
Commissioners have a new local law may be leading the state into what could be a very
restrictive hunting regulations for hunters. It would require the written
permission of landowners to anyone hunting any species of game animals on lands
not belonging to him.
Apparently this is not presently required on a state-wide basis.

So, what's new? Many local areas of the state require this of hunters and,
if things continue on the downward spiral of very restrictive rules for
sportsman, this could well get worse. The H--- of it is that this is a law
(regulation) that might be in needed over the entire state.

Unfortunately, a few "bad apples in the barrel" of outdoorsmen are bringing
these restrictions down on all of our heads.

There aren't many landowners in our state that can't tell horror stories abo
ut conflicts between themselves and hunters on their land. As the human
population increases, available land on which to hunt shrinks in proportion to the
numbers of hunters. What used to be huge tracts of land have been divided,
sub-divided and re-sub-divided until hunters (particularly dog hunters) find
it difficult to confine their activities to a particular tract of ground.

I'd hate to think how many times landowners have told me about dog hunters
telling them that "our dogs can't read your posted signs." It's a common
occurrence for unethical hunters to drive onto a public road, release their dogs
onto land that they have no idea who owns, then wait for the dogs to drive
game into an area where they can be killed.

I No Fishing Because fish have a brain, a central nervous system, and pain
receptors, they can feel pain just like cats, dogs, and humans. Just because
they can't scream doesn't mean that they are not in pain. Also, other animals,
like birds, often strangle or choke to death on lost hooks and lines. - PETA
