Circus Trainer Plans Reunion With Elephant

Little Rock (AP) - If elephants never forget, Mary's in for a treat Friday.

The elephant's former circus trainer, Mark Oliver Gebel, will visit her at 
the Little Rock Zoo. Gebel and his father, Gunther Gebel Williams, both worked 
with the now-retired elephant in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey 
Circus.

Mary, who's 53 years old, started performing in Europe and came to the United 
States in 1968. She retired from the circus in 2000 and has lived at the 
Little Rock Zoo since 2001.

This will be the first time Gebel has visited Mary since she left the circus.

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus started shows in North 
Little Rock Wednesday and will leave town on Sunday.
