STATESBORO, Ga. - Seven teenagers convicted of killing chickens just to
see whether they really run around with their heads cut off are about to
learn a lot more about the birds.

A Statesboro judge sentenced them Friday to cleaning chicken coops and
reading a book about animals' feelings.

In September 2003, the seven teens apparently started talking about
whether chickens run around sans head and decided to test it out. They
went to Wal-Mart, bought machetes, kitchen knives and a hatchet, then
drove to a chicken farm and stole eight chickens.

They beheaded two, videotaping the carnage before the homeowner caught
them.
